Although the lockdowns of the Covid-19 pandemic changed our lives in drastic ways, the experiences have all but faded from public discourse and memory. This film revisits the pandemic on the basis of unique material shot during the lockdowns in Denmark in 2020, 2021 and 2022. By meticulously depicting the spaces of the pandemic – empty airport buildings, abandoned railway stations, deserted streets, as well as the private interior spaces where we all had to stay put – It calls forth the sensations of both freedom and claustrophobia that the lockdowns generated. At the same time – by including the voices of the more marginalized people in society – it highlights the social cracks, divisions and injustices that the lockdowns revealed and maybe even reinforced.
